Our Venue, a Love Letter
Considered one of Cleveland’s most beautiful places, Severance Music Center has been home to the Cleveland Orchestra since 1931. The elegant structure reflects the finest craftmanship and is a harmonization of Neo-classical, French Nouveau, Art Deco, and Egyptian Revival styles. Much of the funding for this venue was contributed by John Severance as a loving tribute to his wife, Elisabeth Prentiss Severance. Her favorite flower, the Lotus, is enshrined in prominent locations throughout, and even the ceiling design in the Mandel Concert Hall is based on the lace pattern of Elisabeth’s wedding gown. Our experienced events team would love to speak with you in detail about your special day and to celebrate your own unique love story here at Severance!
