Originally built in the late 1700s, The Philander Chase Knox Estate was home to former Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Senator, Philander Chase Knox. The grounds that surround the home, meanwhile, were used as an encampment by General George Washington and his army from 1777 to 1778.
