The birth of CrepeMaker; With each passing second, ideas are conceived in the minds of the very individuals you see every day. From the most minor, subtle ideas, to the most revolutionary, world changing ideas, every human being has come up with a clever idea to change or create something new. Of course, every idealist in the world couldn’t create a single thing without something (or someone) to unleash the passion and the drive to pursue their ideas and dreams. Here begins the story of where 2 worlds of completely separate thoughts and backgrounds come together to create the illustrious CrepeMaker everyone knows today. Here begins the story of Christopher Hoffman and Maria Sune Lopez. In the beginning, Maria and Chris were having what some might call “financial difficulties”. With a 6 month-old son and electric bills that were drowning them, the newly-wed Hoffman family was desperate for a life raft. During that time, Maria had been working in fashion, coordinating shows and truly exploring her love for the art of clothing. So with her savings, and Chris’ savings of $10,000, Maria promised Chris that she’d help him create a business as long as he promised to explore the beautiful Paris with her, where if all else failed, Maria could gain knowledge from the fashion there, and further pursue her career in clothing. Upon their arrival in Paris, as they strolled down the Champs Elysees, Maria began spotting small street-side carts spinning up and serving crepes to the local residents eager for a bite of the sweet dough-folded delights. Eventually, Maria’s curiosity consumed her, and she insisted that they visit one of the carts to have a taste of the crepe carts that resided on every corner of the Parisian avenue. As they both indulged in the sweet crepes, Maria turned to Chris and told him that this was the business they were to create together, that crepes were their golden fleece. For the remainder of the vacation (rather than enjoying the rest of Europe), Chris and Maria looked profusely for crepe burners and supplies to no avail. Nevertheless, the young hopefuls returned to the United States with unbroken hope that they would eventually find everything they needed to begin their journey into the world of crepe making. After 3 long months, Chris found a French company based out of Brittany, where the first CrepeMaker crepe burner was brought in to begin cooking up the first crepes. Mix after mix, no combination of egg, butter, and flour seemed to be making the crepes the Hoffman family desired to use to begin their company. After countless hours, an accidental mix created the first hand-held crepe, which created thick enough dough to hold the crepe up, but a thin enough dough to be able to taste the vivid, delectable flavors that swam within the crepe. As the Hoffman’s carefully observed the item they were holding in their hand, they realized that they had done it.
