Let Your Love Set Sail
Let Your Love Set SailPronounced mo-shu’-lu, the impressive historic Moshulu venue is docked in the harbor of Philadelphia, PA. Originally used to transport goods across oceans, the vessel is now the location of sophisticated celebrations and fine dining. Aboard the repurposed ship, you and your wedding guests are sure to find spectacular waterfront views and fond memories. The legendary ship was built in 1940 by William Hamilton, of Glasgow, Scotland, and is the world’s oldest and largest floating square-rigged vessel. In her early years, Moshulu was considered the world’s finest achievement in the shipbuilding industry with a state-of-the-art design and features. Impressive in length at 359 feet, and with 34 sails, Moshulu started her career carrying coal to Chile and returning to Germany with coke and patent fuel. During World War I, the ship was confiscated by the U.S. Navy as prize booty and was temporarily named Dreadnought, meaning fearless. Later, the ship was renamed by Ms. Woodrow Wilson to Moshulu, meaning the one who fears nothing. After a long history of sailing around the world, in 1974 the vessel was moved to Philadelphia and converted into a restaurant and bar. Since the renovation, the historic vessel has made appearances in films including The Godfather Part II, Rocky, and Blow Out. The blue and red vessel, complete with yellow trim, is a spacious, multi-level venue with five decks and seven private dining rooms. Located on the upper decks are two tented areas and an outdoor bar. Fastened around the deck, string lights twinkle from the ship's rope shrouds. The above deck area is also a great location for watching fireworks burst and reflect off the harbor water. Beneath the outdoor decks lies the mirrored ceiling State Room with dark wood beams. The ship's wood-frame windows allow light to flood into the elegant room and cast a soft glow across the hall. The hall also features contemporary chandeliers and golden wall lighting. The team behind the ship strives to create a memorable experience for you and your guests and can host up to 200 people. To help plan your celebration, the on-site sales manager will work with you to coordinate details for your event. The vessel is also equipped with ivory linens and tableware. The team of chefs present couples with the option of choosing from a variety of reception packages, featuring American cuisine. To create the gourmet dishes, the finest local ingredients have been selected by Chef Anthony. The culinary team also offers a selection of signature house-baked wedding cakes to help commence the evening celebrations aboard the brilliant vessel
