Largest log cabin museum in US with venue for 300
Under the stewardship of the Hart Square Foundation, Hart Square Village is a museum wedding venue located in Vale, NC. This unique property hosts the largest collection of historic log cabins in the United States, accumulated over 50 years by Bob and Becky Hart. Committed to the preservation of pioneer America, the Harts set up the Village in order to educate others about early Americans’ way of life. Nestled on 20 acres of nature preserve that features four lakes and an apple orchard, this venue is an idyllic place to celebrate momentous occasions. Couples are invited to embark on the next chapter of their future together surrounded by lovingly preserved mementos of the past. Hart Square Village features 100 log structures that include log cabins, a trading post, a one-room schoolhouse, a printing shop, and a doctor’s office. Each building is furnished with period accurate Appalachian antiques that reflect the day-to-day lives of people in the 19th century. From pewter spoons to rope beds, these items give visitors a strong sense of the strength, ingenuity, and perseverance of early settlers. The museum also boasts one of three working pre-Civil War cotton gins in America, which makes for an excellent backdrop for photographs with loved ones. Two chapels can also be utilized for the wedding ceremony, while the newly constructed Sigmon Family Education Center can accommodate 300 for receptions. When it’s not serving as a wedding venue, Hart Square Village welcomes adults and school children to tour the property. More than 4,000 people visit the estate every year to marvel at the many artefacts and see demonstrations of 19th-century professions and pursuits. The foundation employs a number of artisans, who show onlookers how to churn butter, spin cotton, use a printing press, and more. This museum is a fascinating exploration of history that makes for an unforgettable wedding location.
